Phoenicia man arrested after cops observe drug deal

PHOENICIA – A 38-year-old Phoenicia man, who is currently on parole,
is being held in the Ulster County Jail without bail after his arrest
on drug charges on Friday.

Members of the Ulster Regional Gang Enforcement Narcotics Team were conducting
an investigation into narcotics sales in the Shandaken area and spotted
a narcotics transaction going down in a vehicle in the area of Route 214
and Main Street in Phoenicia. As officers approached, one of the occupants
took off, but after a brief foot chase, he was apprehended by a sheriff’s
K-9 after trying to discard the drugs.

Joshua Levine, 38, of Phoenicia as found in possession of heroin, Suboxone,
Xanax and two hypodermic instruments.

He was charged with the felony of tampering with physical evidence and
misdemeanors of criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminally
possessing a hypodermic instrument, resisting arrest, obstructing government
administration and loitering.
