MONTICELLO – The Village of Monticello not too long ago faced a deficit and had trouble paying its bills.
A recent audit by the village’s accounting firm painted a different picture, one of a solid financial foundation.
Village Manager David Sager said Monticello now has a substantial reserve in the bank.
“$1.2- or $1.3-million. We are in a much better position and each of our unappropriated fund balances and each of our special funds – water, sewer, sanitation – are much healthier than they have been in years past,” he said.
With the Adelaar resort, including the Montreign casino, in the future, in nearby Kiamesha, along with other development, Sager expects the Sullivan County Seat to be in even better financial shape.
