TOWN OF GREENBURGH – Every patrol officer in the Town of Greenburgh will soon be equipped with a body camera. The town is ordering 60.
Town Supervisor Paul Feiner said the cameras will promote accountability of the police with the community.
“We think this is going encourage people to have more trust in our police department than they already have,” Feiner said. “If police do something wrong or if there is an accusation made by someone, you can tell exactly what happened.”
A total of $58,000 of the $240,000 cost of the devices will be paid for with federal seizure money. The remainder will be paid off by the town over a five-year period.
