POUGHKEEPSIE – The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Beacon woman on charges of grand larceny and welfare fraud stemming from a recent investigation with the Special Investigations Unit of the Dutchess County Community and Family Services Department.
Elida Almonte, 41, allegedly stole $34,758 in daycare assistance between January 2011 and August 2014. She is accused of stealing the benefits by concealing that there was other income in her family’s residence, a fact that would have made her ineligible for the benefits.
She was charged with felonies of grand larceny and welfare fraud and released on her own recognizance.
