Saugerties man charged with threatening to kill his grandfather

SAUGERTIES – A Saugerties man is in the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail following an incident in Saugerties on Wednesday in which he allegedly sent text messages to a family member saying he was going to kill his grandfather and a family acquaintance.
Police searched for Joshua Tienken, 29, and found his car in the parking lot of the Stewarts shop on Route 212 in Saugerties where he was interviewed and officers found him in possession of a .22 caliber rifle and a box of ammunition.
He was taken into custody under state mental hygiene law and transported to the Kingston Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation after which he was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and aggravated harassment.
Saugerties Town Court also issued orders of protection on behalf of the intended victims.
