POUGHKEEPSIE – A Lake Peekskill woman is charged with promoting prison contraband and endangering the welfare of a child in connection with an incident at the Dutchess County Jail in Poughkeepsie on Thursday, January 7.
The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office arrested Alexa Michalko, 19, a visitor at the jail, after she allegedly attempted to pass a unit dosage of Suboxone to inmate James Heaphy. She is also accused of using the exchange of her eight-month-old daughter between Heaphy and herself to conceal the passage of the drug.
Michalko was processed and released on an appearance ticket returnable to Poughkeepsie City Court. Child Protective Services was also contacted and involved in the investigation.
