Borchert: “… make sure we’re all
on the same page …”

POUGHKEEPSIE – Dutchess County Legislator Dale Borchert is in line to be the new chairman in January. Current Chairman Robert Rolison will take over as the new mayor of the City of Poughkeepsie.
The majority Republican caucus chose Borchert Tuesday evening.  He is expected to have the support of much of the Democratic minority caucus next month.
Borchert is ready to roll up his shirt sleeves and get to work.
“Right off the bat it’s setting up how we can interact with the county executive and make sure we are all on the same page with what his priorities are for the year as well as finding out what each legislator wants to do as the year starts to unfold,” he said. “It’s really a new group of people. We have nine new legislators out of 25. It’s really trying to educate them on what it means to be a county legislator and what are the roles they all need to have.”
The Republican caucus also chose Legislator James Miccio as majority leader
and Donna Bolner as deputy majority leader.
Democrats on the county legislature, meanwhile, have chosen Micki Strawinski
as minority leader and Francena Amparo as deputy minority leader for the
new year.
