MONTICELLO – The Thompson Town Democratic Committee has endorsed
its slate of candidates for the March 15 Monticello village elections.
The committee backed Mayor Douglas Solomon, who was appointed mayor
by the village board in May when former Mayor Gordon Jenkins was forced
to resign.

Incumbent Trustees Carmen Rue and Larissa Bennett, who are seeking reelection
to four-year terms, were also endorsed along with Trustee Aleta Gomez,
who is seeking election to the village board seat formerly held by Solomon.
There are two years remaining on that unexpired term.

Democratic Committee Chairman Bill James said the committee believes the
village is “finally seeing stability with the current makeup of
the village board. Therefore, the consensus is that this productivity
should continue.”

James said with the casino-resort on the horizon, “this is a time
for us to shine and grow. This team clearly has the capacity to accomplish
these goals in moving our community to be a great place to live, work
and play.”
