KINGSTON – One day after
Mayor Shayne Gallo issued an executive order to suspend metered parking
in the retail shopping areas of the City of Kingston, he withdrew it on
Thursday.
The reprieve from feeding the meters until the end of the year was meant to promote the merchants Kingston has to offer and attract more customers to do their shopping in the city.
But, Gallo rescinded his order after he received less than favorable feedback from merchants.
Both members of the Kingston Uptown Business Association and the Pike Plan opposed free parking resulting in the mayor withdrawing his executive order.
