MONTICELLO – The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the robbery of a taxicab that occurred on Tuesday, December 8.
A driver for Yellow Cab picked up a fare on Cottage Street in Monticello at about 9:30 p.m. The passenger told the driver to go to the Kinnebrook Trailer Park on Route 17B in the Town of Thompson.
When the cab arrived there, the passenger struck the driver in the back of the head. He jumped out of the vehicle to get away from the attacker at which time the assailant jumped into the driver’s seat and drove away. Deputies located the abandoned cab a short time later on Gabriel Road in Smallwood.
No money was taken and the driver sustained minor injuries.
The assailant is described as a black man, about 20 to 30 years old, wearing dark clothing.
