Man arrested after trying to elude police in Orange County car chase

MIDDLETOWN – A Middletown
man is under arrest after he led police on a vehicle chase for several
miles on Wednesday evening.

Orange County Sheriff’s deputies attempted to conduct a vehicle
stop on US Route 6 in the Town of Wawayanda for failing to signal, but
the vehicle fled and attempted to elude the deputies by speeding and pulling
behind a house on Oak Lane in the City of Middletown.

A sheriff’s K-9 track from the vehicle led to the rear of another
house on Oak Lane where the man, identified as Shawn Judd, 20, was found
hiding in a crawl space.

He was charged with reckless endangerment as a felony, reckless driving,
unlawful fleeing police, obstruction of governmental administration, aggravated
unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, unlawful possession of marijuana
and several vehicle and traffic violations.

Deputies were assisted by Middletown City and State Police.

Judd was arraigned and remanded to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $2,500
bail.
