MIDDLETOWN/KINGSTON – Middletown’s annual Christmas parade was held along with its Christmas tree lighting.
“We’re trying to promote local businesses; we’d like
everyone to shop local if possible,” said Kingston volunteer Tina
Mesche, who noted it is all about family.
At the fire department we try to be one big family so we stress the importance of family and working together, so hopefully everyone took the time [Thursday] to be thankful for each other and everything that they have and to take some time to appreciate simple things in life and then enjoy getting into the holiday spirit today,” she said.
Kingston Plaza Uptown hosted the annual Christmas tree lighting event Friday night, a 25-year tradition organized by Kingston Professional Firefighters Association, Local 461.
“It’s always fun to spend time with family,” said Steve Noble, mayor-elect of Kingston.  “Today was a day I spent cleaning up. We worked in the garden today. I spent the day at home and now we’re here at the Christmas tree lighting.  We try to avoid the malls; we prefer to wait for the Snowflake Festival this upcoming Friday,” he said.
Noble was unsure if he would be at officiating the dropping of the Uptown
New Year’s ball this year. He said his oath of office will be administered
afterwards, on New Year’s Day.
