Dover man charged in theft of rifle

POUGHKEEPSIE – The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Dover Plains man on a charge of grand larceny in connection with a stolen rifle from the Town of Wappinger.
The theft was reported in late October with the Scott Sweeney, 39, of Dover Plains being identified as a potential suspect. He is accused of stealing the rifle and then selling it to another person.
Sweeney was arrested on November 21 and the rifle was recovered by detectives.  He charged with felony grand larceny and sent to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond.
