Lopez
SCHOHARIE – State Assemblyman Peter Lopez formally announced on Tuesday his bid to seek the Republican and Conservative nominations for the 19th Congressional seat being vacated by Republican Christopher Gibson.
Lopez, also a Republican, said people want representatives in government who “aggressively challenge the status quo.” He said his campaign is not about power, ego or money. “It is about service to the people.”
He acknowledged the race for the District 19 seat will be highly contested and likely to be one of the top 10 contested in the nation and he believes he can best serve its residents.
On national security, Lopez said the nation cannot live in a vacuum.
“To keep our home front safe, we must sometimes engage abroad,” he said. “We must do whatever it takes to protect every American.”
