GARDINER – A 78-foot-tall Norway Spruce that will be the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree this holiday season will hail from Ulster County. It will be cut down Wednesday at the home of Albert Asendorf and Nancy Puchalski in Gardiner.
The 10-ton tree that stands 47 feet in diameter will be trucked to Manhattan
and erected on Friday. The 83rd lighting ceremony will take place on Wednesday,
December 2.
Meanwhile, the City of Newburgh is looking for the perfect Christmas tree for its annual Broadway holiday location.  Deputy Mayor Regina Angelo would like to have a 35-foot-tall Blue Spruce adorn Lower Broadway.
Angelo has started to get calls from residents from within and outside the city offering to donate their trees.
Anyone who would like their tree considered for the official Newburgh Christmas tree should call 845-565-3297 and leave a message for Angelo or call Lillian Burgarelli at City Hall at 845-569-7354.
