TOWN OF PATTERSON – A Brewster man was is in the Putnam County Jail in lieu of $100,000 cash bail or $250,000 bond for having sex with a girl under of 17. By state law, a person under 17 is deemed incapable of consent.
A Putnam County Sheriff’s deputy found the pair in a vehicle in the park and ride lot along Route 311 in Patterson at 10 p.m. on October 16.
Manuel De Jesus Mejia Lopez, 27, was arrested, arraigned and charged with felony rape. If found guilty of the felony charge, Mejia Lopez could face up to seven years in state prison and up to a $5,000 fine.
