September unemployment continues to decline in the Valley

ALBANY – Unemployment
in September in the Hudson Valley fell from previous year levels. Joblessness
rose slightly from August to September.

State Labor Department figures released Tuesday showed Columbia County,
at 3.7 percent, had the lowest unemployment rate in September. Putnam
County came in second with 4.4 percent joblessness followed by Rockland
and Dutchess counties, each with 4.6 percent unemployment.

Westchester and Orange counties each had 4.7 percent joblessness followed
by Ulster County with 4.8 percent, Greene County with 5.2 percent and
Sullivan County with 5.3 percent.

Region-wide the unemployment rate in September was 4.7 percent, the lowest
September level since 2007.
