KINGSTON – The Kingston Fire Department is conducting a drill on how to contain crude oil that leaked or spilled from a train as it was transported through the city.
The fire department recently obtained a foam trailer as part of the state’s
Foam Task Force Initiative to supplement existing local and county class
B foam capacity at any crude by rail incident while also serving to increase
the capacity to control spills or fires involving any ignitable liquid,
such as gasoline or ethanol.
City residents are advised that during actual training, they may experience turbid or discolored water. That should clear up once the fire department concludes its testing.
