HUDSON VALLEY – Two fallen
firefighters from the Hudson Valley will be honored at the national memorial
service on October 4 in Emmitsburg, Maryland. Their names will be added
to the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial.

Firefighter Kevin Bristol, 48, of the Peekskill Fire Department suffered
a fatal heart attack on March 3, 2014 within 24 hours of responding to
several calls.

Firefighter Fred Edwards, 66, of the Liberty Fire Department, suffered
a fatal heart attack and died after participating in fire department training
on May 7, 2014.

The national tribute is sponsored by the National Fallen Firefighters
Foundation and the Department of Homeland Security’s US Fire Administration.

The October ceremony will be the 34th annual service. This year 11 firefighters
from New York who died in the line of duty will be honored.
