WHITE PLAINS – A Mount Vernon youth was sentenced to three-and-one-third to 10 years in state prison on his guilty plea to charges of rape and criminal sexual act.
Javon Roberts attacked and sexually assaulted two females – a 23-year-old woman walking home from work in Mount Vernon and an 11-year-old girl walking home from a Christmas concert in late 2014.
Although Roberts was under the age of 16 at the time of the crimes and was considered a juvenile offender, he was tried in criminal court.
“The brutal and violent acts this defendant perpetrated against these two victims, one an 11-year-old girl, belie the courage displayed by these women in coming forward,” said District Attorney Janet DiFiore.
