MOUNT VERNON – City Police in Mount Vernon have arrested a 31-year-old
man on a charge of attempted murder for allegedly shooting a man, who
was left paralyzed.

Tyrone Cox, address unknown, was arrested last Friday. On April 9, a 33-year-old
New Rochelle man was shot several times in the lower abdomen and legs
as he stood in front of Tristan’s Barber Shop in Mount Vernon.

The shooting emanated from a dispute between Cox and another person. The
victim attempted to quell the argument at which time Cox left and is accused
of returning a short time later and shooting the victim, who remains paralyzed
from the waist down.

Detectives were able to develop Cox as a suspect despite a lack of cooperation
from the witnesses and staff within the barber shop.

Cox has two prior arrests for marijuana possession.
