KINGSTON – An Ulster County Court judge
on Wednesday annulled the Working Families Party petition of Frederick
Rasmussen as a candidate for county executive.
He had challenged incumbent Michel Hein for the party line, but the court threw out Rasmussen’s petitions.
Working Families Party Hudson Valley Regional Political Director Phillip Leber said Hein “earned” the party endorsement because of “his strong track record and commitment to stand up for working families and fight for fair wages, to end workplace discrimination, and to preserve the environment and Ulster County’s quality of life.”
Leber charges that Rasmussen had attempted to “corrupt the WFP ballot line for the sole purpose of aiding the Republican candidate.”
Hein, who will also appear on the Democratic Party line in the November election, will face former county legislature chairwoman Terry Bernardo, who has the Republican, Conservative and Independence Party ballot lines.
