TOWN OF ULSTER – Police are investigating
a hit-and-run accident that occurred around 10:47 a.m. Thursday on Sawkill
Road in the area of Denver Road in the Town of Ulster.
Town Police said Erich Schmidt, 27, of Staples Street in Kingston was
jogging southbound on Sawkill Road when he was struck by a vehicle going
northbound. He suffered minor injury to his right side after being struck
by what police believe to be the passenger side mirror of the vehicle.
The car is described as a gray Toyota Corolla being operated by a light
skinned woman with long hair.
Schmidt was transported to the Health Alliance Hospital Broadway Campus
for observation.
