HILLSDALE – A six month investigation into several burglaries at
the Four Brother’s Pizza restaurant in the Town of Hillsdale has
resulted in the arrest of a Taghkanic man.

The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office charged Robert Shufelt, Jr.,
20, with felony burglary and criminal mischief and petit larceny, both
as misdemeanors.

The investigation began in January after employees at the restaurant reported
to the sheriff’s office that someone had broken into the business
and stole cash as well as other property. Between January and early June,
the eatery had been burglarized five times.

Investigators were able to develop Shufelt as a suspect and recently interviewed
him at which time he made admissions concerning his involvement in the
break-ins.

Following further investigation, he was arrested at his residence on July
6. Shufelt was remanded to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $5,000
cash bail or $10,000 bail.

The case remains under investigation and further charges and other arrests
are possible, police said.
