BUCHANAN – The Indian Point unit 3
nuclear power plant was shut down manually on Wednesday after control
room operators observed fluctuating water levels inside a steam generator.
Operators determined that one of the unit’s condensate pumps, which is part of the system that feeds water into the plant’s steam generators, automatically shut down while the unit was operating at full power causing water levels inside the steam generator to fluctuate.  Those pumps are on the non-nuclear side of the plant.
All equipment responded as designed and the plant is currently safely shut down, Entergy officials said.
Unit 2 continues to operate at full power.
