CANTON – The sexual abuse case against Dutchess County Legislator Michael Kelsey will be reviewed by St. Lawrence County District Attorney Mary Rain.
Kelsey, 36, of Pleasant Valley, was arrested last December in connection with allegations that he inappropriately touched two 15-year-old boys during a Boy Scout trip to Cranberry Lake in August of last year.
The Republican lawmaker, who was an assistant scoutmaster at the time, was charged with sexual abuse and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
His attorney, Gary Greenwald, told MidHudsonNews.com on Monday that he sent Rain several documents and spoke to her on the phone about the charges.
“Sometime next week she and I are going to speak with a view toward a disposition,” Greenwald said.  “She is very aware that under no circumstances are we taking any form of plea. I am hoping we can have this matter resolved next week.”
Greenwald said if there is no agreement for adjournment in contemplation of dismissal, he is ready to go to trial and confident that he would win.
