POUGHKEEPSIE – Beacon City Councilman Ali Muhammad, a Democrat, has endorsed Republican Dutchess County Executive Marcus Molinaro for reelection this November.
He also picked up the endorsement of Tivoli Village Mayor Joel Griffith, an independent.
“I understand that crossing party lines is an unpopular choice in this after of deep partisanship,” said Muhammad. “However, in this case, I feel it is the right choice.”
Griffith said he is “impressed with [Molinaro’s] energy, open-mindedness, and imagination.” He said the county executive is “an indefatigable leader who empowers others, and is prepared to work with anyone with good ideas and a desire to better our communities here in Dutchess County.”
Molinaro is being challenged in the general election by former Democratic County Comptroller Diane Jablonski.
