Copper theft ring suspects arrested

HUDSON – State Police and the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office arrested three Columbia County residents in connection with an ongoing burglary investigation involving the theft of copper piping from several buildings advertised for sale or foreclosure and appeared abandoned.
On May 28, the suspects were charged with felony burglary. They were identified as Floyd Dallas IV, 36, of Philmont; Dwight Dottin, 25, of Stockport; and Matthew Kelly, 24, of Niverville. They are all in the Columbia County Jail without bail.
The arrests were as a result of an investigation by the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, State Police and Columbia County District Attorney’s Office.
State Police remind all homeowners to be aware of suspicious activity, keep an eye on neighbors’ properties and maintain and secure properties.
