Unemployment continues to drop in region

ALBANY – The April 2015 unemployment rate for the Hudson Valley region is 4.5 percent.  That is down from 4.8 percent in March 2015 and down from 4.9 percent in April 2014.  In April 2015, there were 50,000 unemployed in the region, down from 52,100 in March 2015 and down from 53,500 in April 2014.
Columbia and Putnam counties, at 4.1 percent unemployment in April, were both ranked second lowest in the state, behind Tompkins County.
Rockland and Westchester counties were tied for seventh place statewide, each with a 4.4 percent rate of joblessness.
Dutchess County was ranked ninth in the state with a rate of 4.5 percent, followed by Orange County at 4.6 percent, Ulster County at 4.8 percent, Sullivan County at 5.8 percent and Greene County at 6.1 percent.
