KINGSTON – Ulster County Legislator David Donaldson (D, Kingston) will seek reelection to the county legislature after being urged to run for county executive.
Incumbent Executive Michael Hein is also a Democrat.
Donaldson, a longtime legislator and former chairman, said he was encouraged to run with pledges of support and financing, but “At this point in my life, I like where I am and enjoy the free time I have while still being involved in my community representing one-third of the City of Kingston in the county legislature.”
Donaldson, who retired from teaching two years ago, said while he misses the interaction and rewarding relationships with his students “I don’t miss the 5:45 a.m. alarm and late night planning and grading.”
