SCHOHARIE – State Assemblyman Peter Lopez (R, Schoharie) is just weeks away from making a decision about a possible run for Congress. He is considering his candidacy for the District 19 New York seat in the House of Representatives currently held by Christopher Gibson, who is not seeking reelection.
Last week Lopez distributed a new photograph and an updated biography, saying it is something he does periodically and has nothing to do with a possible campaign.
He is sounding more and more like a candidate, though, saying he is discussing the ramifications with his family, considering a campaign team and analyzing how he would raise the millions needed to run a congressional campaign.
Prior to Lopez being elected to the Assembly, he was Schoharie County
clerk.
His current district includes Saugerties and extends northwest into Greene, Delaware and Schoharie counties.
