KINGSTON – A Saugerties man was sentenced in Ulster County Court to one to three years in state prison for a violation of a conditional discharge.
Donald Pretto, 61, was convicted in January of 2012 of DWI as a felony
and sentenced to one year in the county jail. As part of his sentence,
he was ordered not to operate a motor vehicle for three years without
an ignition interlock device installed.
On October 19, 2014, Pretto was found by police driving a vehicle that did not have one of those devices installed and without a valid driver’s license. On November 24, 2014, he was again found to be driving without an interlock device and without a valid driver’s license. He also gave police an incorrect name in an attempt to evade arrest.
Pretto has six convictions for DWI and was convicted in 2008 of vehicular assault. In that case, he was driving intoxicated on the wrong side of the road crashing into an oncoming car. The driver of the other vehicle was severely injured.
