Philipstown man stabbed in heart in fight over noise with neighbor

PHILIPSTOWN – A Philipstown man was
committed to the Putnam County Jail on Sunday following a charge that
he stabbed another man in a fight between neighbors over noise.

Raymond Hickey, 28, of 9 North Albany Post Road, apartment C in Philipstown,
was charged by Putnam County Sheriff’s deputies with felony assault
following the 2 a.m., Sunday, incident in which he allegedly stabbed a
29-year-old man, who lives in another apartment in the same building.

Deputies were called to the apartment house at 2:15 a.m. and found the
victim bleeding profusely from a chest wound. He was transported by ambulance
to MidHudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie where doctors performed
emergency surgery to repair a laceration to his heart. The victim remained
hospitalized in stable condition following surgery, police said.

According to investigators, Hickey and his neighbor became embroiled in
an argument over noise, and a confrontation ensured outside the apartments.
The dispute escalated into a physical altercation and Hickey allegedly
stabbed the other man in the chest with a knife, which police recovered.

Hickey was arraigned and remanded to the Putnam County Jail in lieu of
$10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond.
