NEW SQUARE – Fire Saturday morning
destroyed an apartment at 38 Lincoln Ave Avenue in the Village of New
Square.
Ramapo Police were alerted to the blaze shortly after 8 a.m. when a homeowner
called 911 screaming that there was a fire.
The fire appears to have started in a first floor bathroom and spread
into the hallway and an adjacent room.
There were no injuries.
Hillcrest firefighters extinguished the flames. There was extensive damage
to the apartment and the couple who was living there will be staying with
family. The other occupants of the building were not affected and were
able to return to their homes.
The fire is under investigation, but t this time does not appear to be
suspicious, police said. The cause is unknown.
