Two Ramapo accidents result in injuries

MONSEY – A motor vehicle/bicycle accident on Route 59 near Besen Parkway in the Town of Ramapo on Thursday evening resulted in serious injuries to the 14-year-old boy who was riding a bike.
Ramapo Police said a 34-year-old Nanuet woman was eastbound on Route
59 at about 8:30 p.m. when her SUV the Airmont teen. The boy, identified
on Friday as Chesky Slarz, was transported to Westchester Medical Center
for treatment of what police said were serious injuries. The driver of
the vehicle was identified as Wendi Williams of Nanuet.
An hour later, Ramapo Police investigated a pedestrian who was struck near the intersection of Route 306 and Maple Avenue in Monsey.
The accident occurred on Route 306 when the pedestrian, a 27-yer-old Monsey man, was crossing the road and was struck as he walked on the yellow safety zone in the center of the roadway. Police said he was not crossing at the marked crosswalk, which is some 20 feet north of his location.
The driver, a 42-year-old Monsey man, was northbound on Route 306 in a minivan when he struck the pedestrian.
The victim was transported to Westchester Medical Center with a leg injury. The driver was issued tickets for driving through a safety zone and improper passing.
