MONROE – A Monroe Man was arrested on Thursday after he was observed stalking a neighbor who had a valid order of protection against him for a previous stalking incident.
Jose Ribeiro, 45, was charged with criminal contempt, assault, stalking and resisting arrest.
Police said he fought with state troopers as they attempted to place him under arrest. During the struggle, one trooper sustained a broken hand.
Ribeiro was transported to Orange Regional Medical Center in the Town of Wallkill for an apparent drug/alcohol overdose.
