Trooper sustained broken hand when trying to subdue suspect

MONROE – A 45-year-old Monroe Man
was arrested on Thursday after he was observed stalking a neighbor who
had a valid order of protection against him for a previous stalking incident.

Jose Ribeiro was charged with criminal contempt, assault, stalking and
resisting arrest.

Police said he fought with state troopers as they attempted to place him
under arrest. During the struggle, one trooper sustained a broken hand.

Ribeiro was transported to Orange Regional Medical Center in the Town
of Wallkill for an apparent drug/alcohol overdose.
