TOWN OF THOMPSON – Residents in the Melody Lake Acres area of the Town of Thompson do not have to boil their water any longer. The state Health Department Thursday lifted the boil water order that has been in place since September 14, 2012.
Acting District Director Christine Westerman said, “satisfactory
water sample results collected at [Melody Lake Acres] for the past year
indicate the water supply to be of a satisfactory biological quality at
the time of sampling.”
The developer of the subdivision, which also operated the private water system, White Knight Corporation, walked away from the project several years ago, said Town Supervisor William Rieber, resulting in the town taking over the water system.
“These people have dealt with extremely low volumes of water and sometimes it was insufficient to even take a shower and we have much of that cleared and cured at this point,” Reiber said.
Residents have been using bottled water to drink and boiling water for other purposes.
Once the water system has been overhauled, Reiber said the town would take it over as a public water source.
