Ramapo man arrested after Thruway rest area robbery

SLOATSBURG – State Police have a Ramapo
man in custody with felony charges pending after an incident Sunday evening
at the Ramapo service area on the Thruway. A suspect, later identified
as Richard Morgan, 49, had reportedly fled from the Sunoco gas station
on foot at around 7 p.m.

Troopers found Morgan as he attempted to cross the Ramapo River and became
stranded on a rock. He was safely taken into custody following a rescue
operation.

Morgan was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern for treatment
of possible hypothermia.

The investigation into the incident is continuing.
