MONTICELLO – Two men required medical treatment at Westchester Medical Center after they stabbed one another during an altercation in a second floor hallway at the Heritage Inn in Monticello on Saturday night, May 7.
Village Police arrested one of the men, Keith Jackson, 26, of Monticello on Monday, charging him with felony assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
Police said Jackson had stabbed the other man, a 47-year-old whose name police did not release, several times with a folding knife. That other man stabbed Jackson in the arm after being stabbed by Jackson.
The incident was captured on video surveillance at the Heritage Inn.
The knife used by Jackson had been intentionally tossed onto a roof of the hotel and was recovered with the assistance of the Monticello Fire Department using a ladder.
Jackson was sent to the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail. He is currently on New York State parole until 2020 for a prior conviction of felony assault.
Monticello Police were assisted at the incident by the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office, State Police, Mobile Medic Ambulance paramedics and the Monticello Fire Department.
