CARMEL – A Putnam County man faces up to 50 years in state prison and lifetime sex offender registration when sentenced next month in county court.
Julio Soto, 37, was convicted on Monday following a six-day jury trial of rape, criminal sex act, and sexual abuse, all as felonies, and a misdemeanor of forcible touching.  The arrest came after a young woman reported the attacks to a counselor.
“Julio Soto violently and repeatedly raped and sexually assaulted an innocent woman and the unanimous jury verdict will ensure he never has the opportunity to do it again,” said District Attorney Adam Levy.
Advocates from the Women’s Resource Center accompanied the survivor to trial each day.  She continues to receive counseling for her trauma.
