KINGSON – A career firefighter and
paramedic has been named as Ulster County Emergency Medical Services coordinator
by County Executive Michael Hein.

The part-time position of EMS coordinator was included in the county’s
2015 budget at a non-benefited annual salary of $14,162.

Richard Muellerleile will fill the position. He is currently chief of
the Town of Shandaken Ambulance Department, a career firefighter/paramedic
with the Arlington Fire District and past president of the Ulster County
EMS Council.

He will work closely with the county Office of Emergency Management, Ulster
County Emergency Medical Services Council, the county’s Fire Advisory
Board, county fire coordinators, law enforcement, county Department of
Health and the Hudson Valley Regional EMC Council.

Muellerleile will also serve as the county’s contact person for
the New York State Bureau of EMS and will coordinate EMS resources during
multi-jurisdictional responses.

Hein said he is confident that Muellerleile “will be able to provide
important coordination among the many EMS agencies as he works with (county
Director of Emergency Services) Steve Peterson.”
