ELLENVILLE – The latest proposal for redevelopment of the Nevele Hotel in Ellenville would include a massive sports complex and video lottery terminal facility.
The VLTs would require state approval, the lobbying for which has apparently begun.
Ellenville Mayor Jeffrey Kaplan is one of those in support of the new plan.
“There is a big push from Ulster County Executive Michael Hein and all of the local businesses and government officials in our area,” Kaplan said.
The $100 million project would replace an earlier one that banked on winning one of the state’s gaming casinos. That didn’t materialize as the only one in the region went to Empire Resorts in Sullivan County.
