RAMAPO – A bus driver for the East Ramapo Central School District is facing charges after he is alleged to have failed to conduct a sweep of his school bus at the end of his morning bus run on February 10, thus leaving a sleeping nine-year-old Hempstead Elementary School student unattended for about 40 minutes.
Matthew Murphy, 50, of West Nyack, was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child and falsifying business records. After he failed to check the bus at the end of his route, he falsified his daily paperwork to indicate that he did check the entire bus before leaving after his morning run.
Murphy was issued an appearance ticket returned to Ramapo Town Court.
