NEW PALTZ – The Watchtower property in New Paltz, which was recently acquired by the Open Space Institute, is now available free of charge for cross-country skiing starting Saturday, February 21. Cross-country ski loop trails have been set up and groomed and will be maintained as long as conditions are favorable.
“This year’s snow cover offers a terrific opportunity for area residents to grab their cross-country skis and explore the beautiful landscape,” said OSI President Kim Elliman.
Mohonk Preserve will be managing the grooming of seasonal trails on the OSI property and is also offering additional groomed trails around its Spring Farm Trailhead and on the Trapps Carriage Road.
The seasonal trails begin just west of the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail at the intersection of Route 299 and Springtown Road.
