BLOOMING GROVE – Town Councilman Brandon Nielsen, a 12-year veteran of the Blooming Grove Town Board announced on Wednesday he is running for town supervisor in the fall election.
Nielsen, who said he has been a partner with the villages of South Blooming Grove and Washingtonville, has long been opposed to the Kiryas Joel water pipeline.
He also said he voted against the town’s 2014 budget because of associated tax increases.
Nielsen won the 2013 Republican primary for supervisor.
He noted he has served under three town supervisors and has had the opportunity to learn from their successes and mistakes.
“Experience will make the difference between radical tax increases, and a steady guiding hand promoting good and sustainable government,” Nielsen said.
The incumbent Supervisor Robert Fromaget is a Democrat as is former supervisor
Lawrence Delarose, who is also going to run for the post.
