TOWN OF ROCKLAND – Sullivan County has lost its second public servant this week with the passing of Ed Weitmann, Rockland town supervisor. He was 65.
“An extraordinary man,” is how State Assemblywoman Aileen Gunther characterized him. “The depth and breadth of his contributions to his community and his country often went unrecognized because of his quiet, reserved nature.”
Gunther said throughout his illness, “Ed was surrounded by friends and neighbors – a testament to the kindness and generosity he had shown to others.”
Just days ago, County Coroner Thomas Warren passed away suddenly. He was 73.
