WHITE PLAINS – Mount Vernon Mayor Ernest Davis was sentenced in White Plains federal court on Friday to one year of probation and a $10,000 fine.
Davis, 76, pled guilty last October to two counts of willfully failing to file federal income tax returns.
Davis had purchased rental property in Mount Vernon in 1988, which he held through a corporation.  He sold it in 2003, but failed to file the required corporate income tax return with the IRS. He also failed to report the proceeds of the sale on his 2003 income tax return.
Davis also admitted that he failed to file a personal income tax return for 2011, when he earned over $106,000 in adjusted gross income.
