VALHALLA – The federal investigation is underway into what caused the Metro-North train crash with a vehicle at a Valhalla railroad crossing that claimed six lives.
Public officials have been calling for a speedy investigation; US Senator Kirsten Gillibrand added her voice Thursday.
“I want a full investigation, an expedited investigation, to find out how that crash happened,” Gillibrand said. “I do think we have to think long and hard about being able to invest in these systems so that they can detect problems on the tracks ahead.”
State Senator David Carlucci (D, Nanuet) is going to introduce legislation requiring state and local governments and other stakeholders to conduct a statewide study of level grade crossings and how safety can be improved.
