Columbia County house damaged by explosion and fire

VALATIE – An explosion and fire of unknown origin caused significant structural damage to a house at 4101 Elm Street in the Village of Valatie late Wednesday morning.
Columbia County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 11:20 a.m.
call in which no one was injured. A man who was insid e at the time of
the explosion, told authorities he was not injured.
Sheriff’s investigators, the Columbia County Fire Coordinator’s Office and investigators from the state Office of Fire Prevention and Control are conducting a joint investigation into the cause of the explosion.  Also at the scene were Valatie Rescue Squad, Niverville Fire Department, Valatie Water Department and building inspector.
